    Clark & Pougnaud (French, b. 1963 & 1962 resp.)

Clark and Pougnaud are an artistic duo made up of photographer Christophe Clark and painter Virginie Pougnaud. With sets built by Pougnaud and photographs made by Clark, they combine their skills to create theatrical, staged photographs that are often intentionally referential and pictorial, taking inspiration from classical and Modernist art, literature, and mythology. Their series Fairy Tales (2003-5) reimagines scenes from well-known stories, like Bettina (2003) which depicts a version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Clark and Pougnaud have worked together since 1999. Their work has been exhibited by Catherine Edelman Gallery, Chicago; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; Pushkin Museum, Moscow; and many others.
