Trent Davis Bailey (American, b. 1985)

In his series The North Fork (2011-2018), Trent Davis Bailey explores his childhood memories in rural Colorado. After nearly two decades away, Bailey returned to the valley of the North Fork to learn from locals, reconnect with estranged family members, and resolve mythic ideas of place informed by nostalgia and longing. The project goes beyond sheer documentation to instead create associations between time and place, imagination and truth, and wilderness and community.

Trent Davis Bailey’s work is regularly published in many publications including The Atlantic, New York Times Magazine, and T Magazine and is held in the permanent collection of Denver Art Museum. He has been featured in exhibitions at Robert Koch Gallery, San Francisco, Paris, and Chicago; Fort Collins Museum of Art, Colorado; Kominek Gallery, Berlin; and others. Bailey received his BFA and BA from University of Colorado Boulder (2009) and his MFA from California College of the Arts (2015). He was the MoCP’s 2015 Snider Prize Recipient.
