Published on the occasion of MoCP's exhibition, Regina Agu: Shore | Lines, Field Notes for Shore | Lines serves as an extension of the exhibition, offering layered insights into the artist’s exploration of environment, memory, migration, and place. Drawing on the legacy of the Great Migration and its ties to Chicago’s South Side lakefront, Agu uses photography, research, and text to examine how landscapes carry the weight of personal and collective histories.
This publication expands on Agu’s social practice by including materials that reflect the artist’s engagement with communities, archival research, and fieldwork. It acts both as a companion to the exhibition and as a standalone object—an artist’s book that maps the intersection of land, identity, and belonging.
Through poetic imagery and reflective inquiry, Field Guide invites readers to consider the spatial politics of race, access, and historical memory embedded in the geography of the Great Lakes region.
Field Notes for Shore | Lines is published by Kris Graves Projects.
