Paula McCartney: Bird Watching 10 x 8 Inches120 pages, Hardcover 40 Color, 5 b/w Plates ISBN: 9781568988559 Publisher: Princeton Architectural Press
Merging the natural landscape with artificial birds, McCartney presents impossibly idealistic scenery that seems to hail straight from a birdwatcher’s dream. A handwritten notation regarding the bird’s location, size and markings accompanies each photograph, lending an additional air of realism to the scene. However, upon closer inspection, the stiff realism gives way to the artificial birds’ wire protrusions and the reality that such perfect natural experiences are indeed unattainable. Work from Bird Watching was exhibited at the MoCP in July of 2010.
