Renowned for her architectural enthusiast, Katalin Deér explores the possible dimensions of photography in her work by playing with two and three dimension pictorial surfaces. With a perspective reminiscent of cubist or constructivist experimentation, this volume of Deér’s work shows the artist playing with, and ultimately crossing the boundaries between photography and architecture, creating new and surprising perceptions.

Katalin Deér was born in Palo Alto, California, to Hungarian parents and was raised in Switzerland and Germany. She completed a Master’s degree from the Universität der Künste Berlin with Lothar Baumgarten in 1996. Deér has exhibited extensively in Europe and the United States, including at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London; Pratt Institute, New York; Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten, Klagenfurt, Austria; Kunstverein Heilbronn, Germany; Hilfiker Kunstprojekte, Luzern, Switzerland, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including grants from the DAAD (2000) and the New York Foundation for the Arts (2002). Deér lives and works in Switzerland.
