Ken Fandell is a Chicago artist known for his witty conceptual art. In Skies Study, Fandell creates a rhythmic and hypnotic sequence of still images of skies in various cities at different times of the day. As the images pulse between lightness and darkness, cloudiness and clearness, details such as power lines, buildings and airplane exhaust punctuate the sequence and ground us in an otherwise linear, somewhat abstract flow. The video comes encased in a limited edition folded print collage of Fandell's sky images, as seen above.
