For the last ten years, British artists Susan Derges has explored thought lens-based and cameraless photography the processes and phenomena of the natural world. Her inters in the behavior of flowing water and botanical organisms is not simply in recording and observing, but in the poetically rich metaphors that they provide for describing the connections between ourselves and the natural world. Using time and light to create images of breathtaking beauty, she achieves a fusion of art and science in her photographic work. Derges received her BA in painting at the Chelsea School of art and completed her postgraduate studies at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.
