Chris Larson (American, b. 1966)
In his multidisciplinary practice, Chris Larson works with sculpture, video, photography, installation, and drawing to respond to specific architectural sites and their histories of manufacturing and habitation. Through his explorations of space and the built environment, Larson’s work poses questions about the inextricable relationships between the body, labor, and place, asking viewers to contemplate the unintended consequences of progress.
Chris Larson received an MFA in sculpture from Yale University (1991) and was a 2018 Guggenheim fellow. He has had solo exhibitions at Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and ENGAGE Projects, Chicago to name a few. Larson is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Minnesota and a co-founder of Second Shift Studio Space of St. Paul.
